Week 17 started like most, but threw us a curve ball we knew was coming, but didn’t expect it so soon. My last surviving grandparent, my grandma Jayne, had a major stroke on the right side of her brain, and took a nasty fall in the very early hours of Tuesday morning. My mom rushed down to the hospital 100 miles south of us and I followed later in the day. Two other of my grandmother’s daughters arrived on Thursday as did my wife. My grandma had times when she was awake and was somewhat able to communicate. Many of her friends came to visit and most got to see her when she was awake. Friday evening at 5:55pm, Grandma Jayne passed away surrounded by three of her daughters and my wife and I. There is a lot more I could write on this story, but my grandma didn’t want anyone to see her in that state, and I’m pretty sure she would thump me if I went into details. So, I will leave it at that and get to the photography.
One of the days I was down there, I took some time to myself and went into Portland and just walked around in the Pearl District. It was an overcast day with occasional sprinkles. I didn’t take a lot of photos this week, but I created a few images I really like.
Rest in Peace Grandma Jayne.
