Week 12 started out down in Portland again hanging out at OHSU and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital while my little nephew had open heart surgery. Pretty scary stuff for anyone, but on a 10 day old? Very scary and stressful for the entire family, especially his parents. But, on a positive note, the surgery went well and the doctors were very happy with the work they did. Still lots of healing and other obstacles in the future, but he is in good hands and surrounded by love.
Outside the waiting room was this stunning view.
My wife and I stayed a night in a writer’s retreat studio which is owned by Tin House Publishing in Portland, OR. A friend of the family has a connection there and the studio was made available to us. It is a really nice little unit with a full kitchen, full bath, combo dining/living/bedroom area, and then a front room with a desk for a writer to work. This is an image of the pocket door and that writer’s space.
HDR is really great for interior shots, creating some rich textural images. I may have to explore interiors as a theme one of these weeks.
My allergies are telling me spring is in the air. Which, brings us to the pseudo theme for the week. I don’t consider a full theme since I didn’t explore it as much as I would have liked. Maybe next week will bring about a deeper dive into the theme.

That pocket door photo is amazing! I was there, and I didn’t see that detail. I never even noticed the fire extinguisher!!
Also, where did you find the amazing buddha? That is just lovely!!
The buddha is in the Olympia Japanese Gardens. He hides in a corner and this was the first time I saw him.
