What an awesome day of exploring and photography this week! My wife had a conference in Seattle, WA, and I decided to take the opportunity to tag along and go take photos for this project. I met up with a friend who I had originally met on a motorcycle forum. I had sent a message to her asking for recommendations of places to go for photo opportunities. Luckily for me, she was free the day I was planning on heading out, so she offered to join me and give me a guided tour as we both practiced our photographic art together. I can safely say she took me to locations I would never have sought out, nor would have known about. We had a great time taking photos, talking about photography and motorcycles, learning a bit more about each other’s craft, and exploring.
I took a lot of photos this day, and tried to narrow down what I would post as much as possible, but there will still be a fair bit in a gallery at the bottom of the page. The photos are generally in order of locations we visited.
Trip started to a walk to All Metals Co.

Then over to the Machine House Brewery building

Now, I might have these next two out of order….But we visited a micro park that is part of the Port of Seattle on the Duwamish River.

And then to Oxbow Park where the ‘Hat and Boots’ are. You can read a little more about the history of the Hat and Boots here: Oxbow Park History

After lunch, we traveled to South Seattle Community College to check out the Seattle Chinese Garden. Sadly, the courtyard was closed, but the grounds are still amazing.

I had a wonderful time, and hope to do this sort of trip again. Next time I’ll either be the host, or join up with another photographer in their town as a guest again. Either way, it is a great way to learn about an area and see locations that may be off the beaten path.
